Having just spent a week away with 5 children of varying ages and 4 adults, 1 with a broken leg, I am thinking that I need to put another Grassroots Homeopathy course in place very soon.
I have seen itchy gnat bites, sunburn, a variety of bumps and bruises, ankle strain, sand in the eye, tummy aches and upset tummy, to name but a few. Thankfully I had my basic homeopathy kit on me and we were able to deal with them all fairly swiftly but it did make me count my blessings that I could do so from the comfort of our accomodation and at no inconvenience to those on holiday.
Children are wonderful examples of how quickly homeopathy can deal with many complaints very quickly and effectively. The very nature of being a child is to hurl yourself around on the floor as you strive to be a gymnast, climb things that are really out of your league, bump into things in the persuit of an imaginary something that the rules of the game clearly state has to be caught, fall down stairs as you try to do nintendo DS manouveres, and pick up and eat all sorts of undesirables from the floor.
If you have a basic knowledge and understanding of homeopathic remedies then most first aid situations can be dealt with very effectively and can save a lot of frustration and upset to both the patient and those around them.
I will be looking to run a Grassroots course in September either on a Tuesday evening or Saturday afternoon. Please let me know if you would be interested.

The Hayfever Season has well and truly arrived
It seems that hayfever sufferers are in for a rough ride this year. The warmer winter has seen blossoms and buds opening earlier. I am already being asked for remedies to help with the acute symptoms that so many suffer with. Homeopathic support can be very effective for this condition and many prefer this route rather than the constant taking of medicines.
The information that your homeopath will need to allow for an effective prescription will be very detailed but here are a few pointers:
1. Exactly what are your symptoms - eyes, ears, mouth and nose being the most commonly affected? Itching, watering, bunged up, swellings and redness are common symptoms for these areas.
2. Do you know what it is that you are sensitive to? The common ones are Timothy Grass, Silver Birch, Horse Chestnut and Rape Seed.
3. The time of year that you experience your symptoms can give a clue to the allergen. Spring hayfever is generally buds and pollens and the summer hayfevers tend to be grass based irritants.
4. What time of day are your symptoms worse and what time of day are they at their mildest?
5. Are you better indoors or out of doors?
This is by no means an exhaustive list but this information will certainly be needed to establish which remedy/ies will best address your symptoms.
The acute remedy identified, it is worth exploring the possibility of working on the underlying susceptibility.
The autumn is a great time to start this work but there is no reason why it can not be started at the time of the acute symptoms.
For more information please speak to your homeopath.

Guided meditations and Visualisations
Today sees the start of the guided meditation and visualisation group.
Stress is such a large part of everyday life that it is difficult to escape its effects. The setting up of this group has been requested for some time by people I have seen in clinic and I have finally put the thought and energy in to it.
How can visualisation work help?
Well so many of our problems are stress related so the aim of this group is to provide people with a "toolbox" of coping strategies. We will be exploring the chakras and learning techniques to cleanse and balance them. We will also be discussing how "irritations" and "worries" encountered during the day can have a large impact on our ability to get quality sleep and also learning some methods of dealing with this.
I am so looking forward to working with a small group of people and having some fun as well as developing the ability to work with this powerful method of healing.

Skiing and altitude sickness
Many of our friends have been very sceptical about homeopathy and how it can possibly work. One such friend, Simon, would regularly head for the slopes every January, spend his first day hurtling down the black runs and the next 5 days vomiting, with a bad headache and generally feeling the effects of altitude sickness.
About a year or so after meeting him he mentioned this and very tongue in cheek said "So is there anything that homeopathy can do for that"? His next ski trip a week or so later saw him heading for the slopes armed with his bottle of Coca.
On his return a week later he arrived at our front door hidden behind the most beautiful bouquet of flowers.... "So it worked then"? He is no longer in the least bit sceptical and in fact has often used this amazing form of energy medicine since with the same wonderful results.

Guided Visualisation
I have been asked to arrange a meditation/visualisation group for the last year or so and I have finally done so. It will run on alternate Tuesdays 8 - 9pm, at Calmer Solutions from February 19th, at a cost of £10 per person per session.
So if you are experiencing stress and need some tools to deal with it more effectively why not give this a try?
The group will be kept small so that we have plenty of time to share experiences.
If you are interested in booking a place please contact me.

Is it too early to be thinking about HAY FEVER?
For most of us the arrival of the longer evenings and the sight of a bit more blue sky and sunshine means that Spring is on it's way and with it the opportunity to spend some more time outside.
The garden will need tending and there will be much more incentive to be out and walking in nature. I love the smell of the freshly mown grass and the sight of the buds opening. I love to throw open the windows at night and enjoy the cool breeze. We grow our own organic veg and the children love helping to plant the seeds and then transplant the seedlings on to the allotment. So for us, as for most people, the arrival of Spring signifies a lot more outdoor enjoyment.
BUT, there are many for whom this time of year brings very mixed blessings. Hay fever sufferers see it as the start of their sneezing, coughing, sore itchey eyes and throat. A time when they have to stay indoors with the windows shut or a time when they start frantically pill popping to try and stay in control.
Homeopathy can potentially offer you help at two levels. A homeopath can offer you an acute remedy to deal with the symptoms that you exhibit thus reducing or maybe eliminating the need for the anti histamine medicines. They should also be able to offer you a support programme aimed at reducing or potentially removing your sensitivity to the allergens that trigger your hayfever.
Now is a great time to be making contact with and talking this through with a homeopath.
