It seems that hayfever sufferers are in for a rough ride this year. The warmer winter has seen blossoms and buds opening earlier. I am already being asked for remedies to help with the acute symptoms that so many suffer with. Homeopathic support can be very effective for this condition and many prefer this route rather than the constant taking of medicines.
The information that your homeopath will need to allow for an effective prescription will be very detailed but here are a few pointers:
1. Exactly what are your symptoms - eyes, ears, mouth and nose being the most commonly affected? Itching, watering, bunged up, swellings and redness are common symptoms for these areas.
2. Do you know what it is that you are sensitive to? The common ones are Timothy Grass, Silver Birch, Horse Chestnut and Rape Seed.
3. The time of year that you experience your symptoms can give a clue to the allergen. Spring hayfever is generally buds and pollens and the summer hayfevers tend to be grass based irritants.
4. What time of day are your symptoms worse and what time of day are they at their mildest?
5. Are you better indoors or out of doors?
This is by no means an exhaustive list but this information will certainly be needed to establish which remedy/ies will best address your symptoms.
The acute remedy identified, it is worth exploring the possibility of working on the underlying susceptibility.
The autumn is a great time to start this work but there is no reason why it can not be started at the time of the acute symptoms.
For more information please speak to your homeopath.
